X - Beyond the Frontier**

The below extract is written by myself - Chazman_XMC (X Mining Corporation), and is based on the Hex edit cheat by Carl Knoos. The **Spoiler** section text is coloured white at the moment. Please do you best to camouflage this text on your site.

"Before thinking, 'Now i can have 99 million credits', don't jump. All good hex coders should have a good hex editor, my favourite is A.X.E. version 2.1 (copyright by all respective owners)
which is available from HTTP://www.kahei.com.

Before you start anything, know that tampering with save games with a hex editor is very temperamental, and can have lasting side-affects on your game play and experience. Should you choose to do so, BACKUP YOUR SAVES every-time before and after editing game code. If you don't you could lose game experience, story line missions already completed, lost equipment and most importantly CREDITSSSSSS.....etc etc.

Take a good look at the Hex code your about to edit.
First things first, Carl Knoos should have said you can't hex edit your money until you have enough to make 4 hex digits, which should all be different (e.g. 234A). If they aren't, then modify your in game credit balance to do so.

Secondly, you can't modify your credits beyond their current hexadecimal value, e.g. if your credits are represented by 4, 6 or 8 hex digits, then they can't go beyond that. Also note that if you try to get lots of credits by ignoring this, your save game will corrupt! Trust me, it's happened to me on many occasions.

Thirdly, Credit limits on hex values: As you probably know, the highest hex digit is F and the lowest being 0, but with Hexadecimal you'll have to add an additional digit to make it work, e.g. "0F". When your in-game credits reaches its maximum 4-digit hex strain of 655.35, your credits will then form a 6-digit hex strain e.g. 655.35=FFFF and 655.36=010001. It's usually after 700 credits that I allow myself any hex-editing because 700 credits is easily obtainable in Seizewell and Greater Profit alone. After this you'll be able to edit the hex code easily to FFFFFF, - the limit for 6-digit hex strain which is quite a good amount of credits (167772.15) and also where it gets tricky. After a while your .?? credits will disappear from the pilot display and trade screen (I think it's after 6 digits of credits). So either A: note it down, or B: use the trade interface to find it out (by attempting to buy a product from the station, like Energy Cells, BoFu or Teladianium, something that takes up cargo.... until you see the .??) (Please note that the product used must not have a credit price which has .00 figures in its 2 decimal places i.e. Like this: 10.00, NOT this: 9.98), otherwise it won't work. The .?? must be included in all hexadecimal calculations. After your credits reach 167772.16 the code again will change to an 8-digit hex strain. Now your thinking "YES! Credits galore!" the Hex code in 8-digits is very complex. You may think it's not, but it is. You just try putting in 'FFFFFFFF' in your save game and see what happens, (don't forget to back your save up or I will have to tell you, "I told you so!"

**Spoiler**You'll have a credit limit of 0.-1 and be unable to get out of it unless you sell your equipment.**Spoiler**

Finally some of my best used hex codes for X-BTF;
Obvious:
FFFF=655.35 Credits
FFFFFF=167772.15 Credits
Not so obvious:
0BEBC200=2000000.00
159281C7=3619230.15

That's about it, don't forget to fly safe out there pilots, and should the worst happen to your saves, don't blame me or Carl Knoos. You have been warned (MANY MANY TIMES!!!)

All credit for the above belongs to me Chazman_XMC, and my thanks to Carl Knoos for his initial ideas, Egosoft for writing, programming and releasing a champion game, which rivals the elite of the elite space games series and genre "elite", LOL... and to any other Idiots I forgot to leave out. ;-) "

End of transmission
